Sarsfields Hurling Club is one of the oldest hurling Clubs in Cork, est. 1896 in the pike field Sallybrook, by a group of people led by Billy O' Neill from Sarsfields Court. Sarsfields Hurling Club now has the best of facilities including a club house, two playing pitches, a hurling wall, an all-weather pitch, four new dressing rooms and a new club gym. The club boasts an number of inter-county players in the past and present like Paddy Barry (Captained Cork Seniors to All-Ireland Glory), Alan Lotty, Micka Brennan, Teddy McCarthy(Dual All-Ireland winner), John Considine, Bertie Óg and Tadgh Murphy. At Present Sarsfields have representatives at various intercouty levels - Kieran Murphy (Senior), Conor O'Sullivan (Senior), Ray Ryan (Senior), Tadhg Óg Murphy (Senior) and Eoin O'Sullivan (Minor).

Sarsfields welcome Skehnarince U 16 hurlers to Riverstown on Wednesday night for the final of the annual Crotty Cup against our own lads. The throw in is at 6.30. On Friday night our minor hurlers will be in action when they start their Premier League campaign with a home game against Na Piarsaig at 8pm.

Sars Win 11-a-side Tournament

Sarsfields became the first holders of the Jim Goulding Trophy following a 4.13 to 3.9 victory over St. Finbarrs in the final at Togher on Saturday night. This proved to be an excellent pre season tournament,and regardless of who emerged victorious,was of great benefit to all participating teams. Well done to Chairman John Hodgins,Liam Duncliffe,Tony Maher for their very professional organisation of the competition. Apologies for the poor picture quality.

Cork V Kilkenny

Cork's upcoming Allianz National Hurling League game against Kilkenny, in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday March 14th at 2.30pm will feature a special promotion for club/school juvenile groups. One adult will be admitted free with every 10 children, and there will be a special prize draw for all groups registered. AN exhibition of point scoring by John Gardiner, plus two goals from local hero Michael Cussen, edged Cork to an exciting victory over Waterford in an entertaining challenge game to mark the official opening of the Sarsfields club’s new sand based pitch and flood-lighting system at Riverstown on Saturday night. Sarsfields Juvenile Hurling Club AGM

The 27th Annual General Meeting of Sarsfields Juvenile Hurling Club was held on Friday 22nd January. A large attendance with many new faces were present. The chairman thanked all the team managers and fellow officers for their assistance during the year.
