U6:

U9:

Our U9 hurlers were welcomed by Blarney on Saturday morning for an eagerly anticipated fixture. Both teams hurled hard and there were some standout performances on both sides. Special mention to our own Ben Houlihan, a true show of sportsmanship at such a young age, helping to aid an injured opposition player. Well done Ben!!

U10:

We were delighted to host the Donal Buckley U10 Hurling Tournament today Sunday 09th Aug, and to welcome our friends James Stephens (Kilkenny) and Doora Barefield (Clare) to Páirc Tadhg Mac Carthaigh. What a fantastic day of hurling! The skill, determination, teamwork and sportsmanship on display from all three clubs made for a superb tournament in glorious sunshine. A huge thank you to all the players, coaches, parents, volunteers and supporters who helped make the day such a success.

The tournament is held in honour of Donal Buckley, a true Sarsfield's legend. Donal famously led from the back and scored a point from corner-back in 1951 when Sarsfield's Seniors captured the club’s first ever Cork County Senior Hurling Championship. A proud native of Rathcooney, Donal went on to serve the club with distinction as both Chairman and President. The Buckley and McAuliffe families have been synonymous with Sarsfield's throughout its history, with Donal’s uncles, Jer and Jack McAuliffe, among the founding members of the club 130 years ago.

Congratulations to all involved in keeping Donal’s legacy alive through this wonderful annual tournament.

U12:
A busy weekend for our U12 boys. Friday evening saw our Division 6 boys come up just short against Carrigaline in a titanic battle.
Leading 3-4 to 0-4 at half-time, we were superb in the opening half, with a Kevin Hennessy-esque performance from Chullain Long up front, while Gavin James and Nathan were busy around the middle and drove us forward.
On the resumption, Carrigaline wrestled back the momentum and eventually took the lead, only for Joey Gleeson to step up and level the game once again. With the game firmly in the melting pot, we struck the woodwork on a couple of occasions, but unfortunately a late point from Carrigaline saw them take the win. A game that had absolutely everything — just not the result we wanted.
The performance, attitude and effort from the boys were excellent, and there are plenty of learnings to take from a really competitive game. Well done lads — plenty to be proud of.

Sunday saw our Division 1 boys back in action, looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season against a tough and physical Douglas side.
Once again, the attitude was excellent and the work rate was through the roof from the first whistle. Coming towards half-time, we were well in the ascendancy, leading 6 points to 1, but Douglas finished the half strongly with some excellent free-taking to leave it 6pts to 3 at the short whistle.
Douglas started the second half strongly and put us under pressure, but Ryan and Sam stood firm in fb line, repelling repeated attacks, while our half-back line was absolutely flying. With the game sitting at 7 pts to 1-3, our boys really drove on. The introduction of our finishers brought renewed impetus, and the lads pushed on to see the game out and secure a superb performance.
A brilliant response from the boys — work rate, resilience and teamwork from start to finish.

U13:
Our U13 squads had two outings this week.
On 04th Aug we took on Inniscarra in the Fe13 1AHurling league in an away fixture. Result Win for Sars.

The second game took place the following evening, 05th Aug against Bandon in Kiely Park. Result Win for Sars.

U14:
Our U14 squads also had two outings this week.
First out was played on 06th Aug in Rathpeacon against Blarney. Result Win for Sars.

The second fixture was against St. Finbarr's in the Premier 1 Hurling League in Togher. Result Loss for Sars.

U16:
Sars had 2 teams out at U16 grade this week. On 05th Aug Sars took on St. Finbarr's at home in Páirc Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh in Fe16 4A Hurling Championship. Result Win for Sars.

On 06th Aug Sars took on Ballincollig at home in Páirc Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh in Fe16 4B Hurling Championship. Result Win for Sars.

Minor News:
Fe18 Division 1 Hurling Championship took place in Lisgoold on 04th Aug, with Lisgoold the opposition. Result Loss for Sars.
This was quickly followed by Premier 1 Fe18 Championship on Wednesday evening in Carrigtwohill. This was a pulsating encounter with nothing between the teams. It came right down to the wire and in the final seconds Sars grabbed a winning goal to finish the game by the minimum.

Adult News:
Junior C Championship came to Páirc Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh o a beautiful Sunday morning 09th Aug. Sars took on Killeagh. Sars came out on top with a full time score of Sars 0:26 Killeagh 0:20.

Other News:
Cork Senior Camogie team crowned All Ireland Champions. Congratulations to Ava Fitzgerald and Orlaith Mullins of Sars Camogie and the entire Cork team on their victory.
